Bashir Hayford explains why he interrupted Heart of Lions vs Bechem Utd match

Heart of Lions coach Bashir Hayford has addressed his actions during his team's Ghana Premier League match against Bechem United, where he placed a chair in the middle of the pitch.

Hayford seemed visibly disturbed due to unfortunate incidents during the crucial match, including unruly behaviour from fans, prompting him to halt play until order was restored.

“The fans were hurling urine and insulting me and the players. We had to defend ourselves so we ran to the pitch but to be honest, I really replied them. In my 30 years as a fan of the game, I had never seen anything like this before. It was more like a war and not a football match,” Hayford explained as quoted by Akoma Sports.

Despite the interruption, the game eventually resumed after the seasoned coach left the field.

Heart of Lions currently finds themselves in 17th place, just above Real Tamale United in the relegation zone, while Bechem United holds the sixth position in the table with 40 points.

Heart of Lions has secured 29 points from 28 games played, making them the team with the fewest wins (6) so far in the season.
